I created an empty file with the name telescopes.json but this caused Stellarium to crash on start-up.Īlexander, I see you commented on a similar thread in January of 2016. I could perhaps create the file by hand if I had the format for this file. The folder already contains several device_models.json files and backups, but no telescopes file. So there is a problem creating the telescopes.json file. File is missing: "/Users/albertsjoberg/Library/Application Support/Stellarium/modules/TelescopeControl/telescopes.json" log01.txt is after a fresh install, Log02.txt is after I attempted to add a telscope controller. This has provided a clue to the problem and a possible fix.Īttached are two log files.

Where does it want to "create" this telescope?

Since this is not specific to this latest release of Stellarium, my guess is that it probably has something to do with file access permissions. I do not know if this has to do with the location of configuration files and permissions or if this is somehow related to an internal piece of code that has not been compiled correctly. It does however give me confidence that I am not making an elementary error in my trials. UNfortuantely the linux box is not portable, so of limited use. I have even tried to simply create a dummy interface using the "Nothing, just simulate one (a moving reticule)" but exactly the same result.ĭoing the same on a linux machine, closes the dialog and I have a device I can "Start", "Configure" or "Remove." It works. The only options are "OK" which does nothing, "Cancel" which cancels te operation without doing anything, and "X" in the top right hand corned of the dialog which does the same as "Cancel" When I click the OK button nothing happens for a time and then the cursor is returned, but the add telescope dialog has not been closed. I attempt to "Add" telescopes as shown in various videos and mentioned in the documentation When I click on the button "Configure Telescopes" I am presented with the "Telescopes" menu Plugin is active, and I have the "Move a telescope to a given set of coordinates" icon in the bottom menu bar.Ĭlicking it reports "There are no active devices" I had this with the previous version I was running too.
